Washington, DC – March 29, 2025 – The 2025 Author's Awards and Ball took place on March 29, 2025, at The Wharf in Washington, DC, bringing together an incredible group of authors, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and innovators for a night of celebration. Hosted by Dr. Delores Henderson, the event was filled with energy, creativity, and recognition for the outstanding contributions of individuals in the literary world.
The evening began with media interviews on the "purple" carpet, where authors shared insights about their work, the future of writing, and their excitement for the awards ceremony ahead. The event kicked off with a beautiful ballad and a jazz performance by local artists, setting a graceful tone for the evening.
The awards ceremony began with the Medals of Impact recognition, followed by the highly anticipated 2025 MVP Author Awards. Among the honored recipients was Nia Brown, Founder and CEO of Adult Wannabe LLC, who received the 2025 Best Creator and Social Media Writing Award for her self-published book, So You Wanna Be An Adult?
Nia’s recognition not only celebrated her impactful work as an author but also her behind-the-scenes contributions to the success of the Author’s Awards. She played a pivotal role in creating the event’s digital and social media assets, including flyers and visuals, as well as the photo backdrop that added to the event’s celebratory atmosphere.
In her acceptance speech, Nia shared, “As a child, you think adults know everything—and then you become an adult and realize that couldn’t be further from the truth. That realization is what led me to this work. Because life can be hard. Adulthood doesn’t come with a manual, but I’ve made it my mission to be a resource for those trying to figure it out.”
She continued, “This is just the beginning. I will continue to show up, to create, to build, and to serve. We are just getting started at Adult Wannabe.”
The evening was a true celebration of community and achievement, highlighting the power of collaboration and the importance of empowering others. Nia Brown’s award reflects her commitment to providing practical resources and guidance to individuals navigating adulthood, and her continued dedication to uplifting others in her community.
